Climate neutrality plan 2040 for the municipality of Voitsberg

The municipality of Voitsberg, characterized by its industrial past in mining, faces both the challenge and the opportunity to position itself sustainably for the future. As a member of the Climate Alliance for 25 years, the city has already implemented numerous measures in the area of climate protection and sustainability. Now Voitsberg is going a decisive step further and is working on sustainable development in the areas of mobility, renewable energy supply, green spaces, sustainable municipal administration and awareness-raising with a climate neutrality roadmap.

A key challenge for Voitsberg is the limited space available in the city. In terms of urban development, the focus is therefore on densification and vertical construction, high-quality use of the few open spaces and increasing the quality of stay in the city center.

A participatory process involving the city administration, stakeholders and decision-makers from politics and business is intended to create a holistic, innovative and practical transformation path. The climate neutrality roadmap aims to achieve the vision of climate neutrality by 2040. Voitsberg is thus positioning itself as a pioneer of future-oriented urban development and as a model for a sustainable and resilient region.
